Fire Chief Steve Abbott points out that there are various steps that residents can take to ensure their safety from fire and/or being overcome by smoke or carbon monoxide. “Making sure your fire alarms and sprinklers are working and up to code is a crucial element to ensuring your family’s safety,” Chief Abbott stresses.
What many (if not most) residents throughout the NCFPD may not know, however, is that the Fire Department provides specific services to ensure safety in the home. For example, Chief Abbott explains, “We are more than happy to come to your home and replace the batteries in your smoke detector or install a new one if this will save a local resident from a serious accident.”
If you need this service, simply call the District’s main office at: (760) 723-2005 to set an appointment to have a firefighter come to you home and inspect your fire alarm; change the batteries, if needed; or even replace it, if necessary.
